OP Steve C S Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 8,534 Likes: 107 Fresno, CA	If the road closed sign is indeed that low, then it is 3.5 miles and 1,700' elevation climb up to Whitney Portal. That can take two hours time to get up to the trail head.
