Way to go, James! Yes, a liter of water is about 1/3 the amount you should carry starting up the switchbacks. You need a liter to get to the top of the switchbacks, another to get to the summit, and the third you could hide away at Trail Crest to use on the way down.

Dehydration often does worsen the altitude issues. AMS is no fun!
