Hi Everyone. We will be doing a Day Hike on July 19th. I will be hiking with 3 of my sons (18, 16, 14), 2 brothers, a nephew (15), and a couple of friends. I have 15 permits but anticipate about 10 to the summit, the rest are going to go to Trail Camp.
Can't wait. Actually, can't believe I just wrote that. Last year, I day hiked to the Summit in early July and by the time I got down thought I'd never do it again. It was a long day through a lot of snow but it was an amazing experience. I summited with my oldest son and youngest brother who were both in much better shape than me but some how I was leading the way. They felt the affects of AMS much more than me. My 2 buddies turned around at Trail Crest due to one having a severe case of AMS --- but they are back to try again this year. Can't wait.
By the way, I read this board last year and it was extremely valuable in helping prepare. Thought I'd go ahead and join since it is such a great group.
