Jack C, you can load up on multiple trips. It's only in the lottery that you're only allowed one entry.
Actually, I've had issues with having multiple reservations for the same date where it wouldn't let me book the second permit until I cancelled the first one.
So if you can't finish the booking, you may have to quickly cancel the conflicting reservation.
