We plan to hike up Mt San Gorgonio next week. As I understand, a permit is required. I was able to get a permit via email (using their editable PDF application) within one business day, although they say to expect it within 4-5 business days. You can also get a permit via USPS or fax.

Planning to bring only microspikes for traction and overnight gear, although we're trying for a 'day' hike... fully expecting this will be darkness to darkness.

There should be water available at the creek crossings, although this is my first time on this mountain, so I can't confirm for sure this time of year.

Baldy will be next. I've never hiked to the summit of Mt San Antonio (one of the three saints of SoCal).
