I know. Having been up that way a number or times, I doubt their claims as the route over Sakai Col is both, unapparent, and perched over a notable cliff.
They were already lost, and not necessarily completely reliable in their ability to navigate or remember landmarks.
I'm not saying that they are definitely wrong, but I think there is reason to doubt their recollection (at least based on the reports we've received).
