So apparently this group went over the ridge above Upper Boy Scout, and was coming back over Whitney-Russell when the "leader" decided to continue up the west side of the ridge. He left his pack below and to the north of the Notch, and continued either over or around to the SW slope, and met his end a little above the JMT between Guitar and the west side switchers. Am I reading this right?
