Kost, I assume you are asking whether to bring your gear to Shepherd Pass, not the summit(s). The answer depends in what you intend to climb and how strong/fast you are. If you are only doing one peak, camping at Anvil Camp should work fine. If you are doing more than one peak on different days, it pays to haul your camp to Shepherd Pass because this will make your summit days shorter. If you’re doing multiple peaks on the same day, the choice hinges on whether you are confident that you can climb those peaks in one day from the lower camp. Tyndall is very straightforward, but Williamson Bowl and the route-finding on Williamson can be time consuming. Some people camp in Williamson Bowl to climb Williamson. A final consideration is that camping higher has greater potential for altitude sickness.
