I'm with Rogue on this one. I've been in a tarp type shelter on really cold nights and have had condensation o'plenty collect on the inside of the tarp. I think it might be because your breath rises upon exhalation. A tent with rainfly might work differently but a single wall will certainly frost up even with the door open.
The bivy will keep the sleeping bag dry.
