Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Job Cuts

The NYT reports that "...since Thursday, at least 3,000 employees have been laid off across the United States Forest Service and the National Park Service, part of a wave of... cuts to the federal work force." Does anyone know the impact that will have on access to the Whitney Zone or the MT Whitney Lottery?

Not yet. Hell you can't even make reservations on recreation.gov for national parks right now.

I just hope it doesn't end up like 2020 and Joshua Tree NP: They stayed open with minimal staff and people trashed the desert badly.

I'm still planning on a HST hike this summer (cross my fingers that I still can), but my main trip is to the Japan Alps (and maybe Fuji) so that should be safe ("SHOULD").
