I’m heading to Split Mountain this Sunday via Red Lake. Does anyone have beta on the traverse from Split Mountain’s main summit to the South Summit and back? Secor describes the South to Main traverse as follows: “Descend the Class 3 north face of the south summit and go left (northwest) from the notch to the Class 2 gully that leads to the north summit”
I’m trying to confirm whether this is indeed a Class 3 traverse. Saw somewhere a trip report discussing 5.4 climbing instead.
Any information, tips, photos you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
