Just go back from a 35 mile(ish) walk starting at Horseshoe Meadows, to Cottonwood #4 and #5 lakes, up Old Army Pass, over to Sky Blue Lake, Irridescent Lake, upper and lower Soldier Lakes, then back around Cottonwood Pass and Chicken Springs lake.
We saw that at least one other person have used Old Army Pass, probably a week prior. There are three large snow fields that must be navigated. we kicked steps into all of them, so most anyone should be able to pass without any ice gear. We did not carry any ice gear.
The only problem spot is the snow at the top of the pass. It is deep, and pretty steep. use caution here, it was pretty sketchy going up. I can imagine it is worse coming down.
It is pretty warm, so I can not imagine there will be snow on the pass for much longer.
I'll post some photos in the next week or so!
