Can anyone verify the accuracy of the weight scale?

Right at the start of the trail at Whitney Portal, inside the wooden structure with the WAG bag dispenser, is a spring weighing scale. You can hang your backpack on it to weight it. I am trying to figure out how accurate it is, since weighing my backpack and its contents here, I keep coming up about 3-4 pounds less than what that scale told me on the day of the hike.

If anyone is there or is heading there and could weight a known weight, and let me know, that would be much appreciated. I need to know if I really had a 28lbs backpack or whether it was closer to 24.

Thanks!!

It seemed about right when I used it in May. I doubt it would be off by 4 pounds.

It's been pretty accurate for me over the last 11 years.

I have had issues in the past counting pieces of gear as backpack weight that I would ultimately wear elsewhere. Hats, gloves, jackets, gaiters, and all sorts of gear I weighed in my pack at home but were worn on my person when I weighed my pack at the Portal. I'm not saying that is what I think happened here, but it happened to me so it might be illuminating to your situation.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some item or another. Good to know that you've both found the scale pretty accurate. Thank you.
