Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion July 2 day hike main trail

Hi. Does anyone have any input on two things: 1. Will the access to the trail head be open on that date? 2. Will the switchbacks be accessible and relatively snow free?

Unless something very unexpected happens, the answer is "yes" to both. This year's snowpack is below average and seems to roughly match that of 2018, so I'm expecting the switchbacks to be open by mid June:
