Mt Whitney Zone Forums Trip Reports Gambler's Special (7/26/2019)

Nice hike today up to Gambler's Special, a very rarely climbed class 3 peak which I accessed via the cirque including Carillon and The Cleaver. Pretty straightforward route. The most notable aspect of the hike was the perfectly preserved summit register with the earliest entries dating from 1972. Looking through the register, there are very few ascents. This is a shame because its a solid route with easy access from Whitney Portal.

I didn't think it was possible from the Cleaver and in July.

This is one of my backup hikes this year, although I would go up Hogback Creek.
