in't talkin' bout a radio station here.

Yosemite Lakes Park

Muy caliente in the foothills where I live.

107 degree and rising at 1800 feet elevation! We live at 1500 feet. Don't even try, wagga! grin

June 28, 2010. It hit 100 degree at 10:22 a.m. Keep in mind, thi

It was 105 degrees yesterday! Pool was very, very good!

Yesterday, Wifey-pooh and I even climbed in our spa set at 102 degrees. Got in, and got out and dived in pool to cool off. Some of the dumbest things we (Wifey-pooh and I) do...

I keep a log of temperature highs and lows where I live. From the data I recorded, the average high for the month of May 2010 was 75 degrees.

Then Memorial Day weekend came and went.

June started roasting the San Joaquin Valley aka the "Dutch Oven."

So far, it has averaged over 93 degrees for the month of June.

July and August get hotter!

On July 10, 2008, the temps hit 116 degrees!

Blame it on El Nino!

Journey well...

All the more excuse to get high... wink

In camper/backpacker parlance, a Dutch Oven is actually something else again.

And I've got 108 on my back patio, and a misplaced cat - think he's outdoors.

Hoo Boy! Lone Pine shows 102 at 5 PM on Weather.com.

NOAA predicted 70 F today for the Portal.

Bet those cables up on the trail are melting out fast!!!

Put away the crampons.

109 degrees F at my house in Vegas yesterday. Normally I despise the heat, it is welcome at the moment though, I really don't want to have to rent crampons on July 11th laugh

It's just over the next hill...

Really truly 108, but not a record here in Fresno.

I wouldn't be quite so hasty. It may be melting fast, but there is probably still significant refreezing occuring on the north-facing slopes. I know I plan on carrying gear for most of this summer.

(Which does, in fact, make me groan a bit, but them's the facts of getting high, especially without a trail!)
