Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Advice on Microspikes

Hoping that recent climber can provide advice on possible need for traction. I would like to keep the pack as light as possible and defer to Yaks or nothing rather than buying Katoolas. Is traction needed or is ice on the main trail gone now?

You don’t need spikes. Good boots with tread and you’ll be fine. I’m assuming you are headed up in the near future.
