Hi all! I have posted this also in fb page. Going to try and summit for the 3rd time. I'm looking for a day hike permit for 2 person on Oct 1. We gonna try the walk in permit on Saturday the 30th, but I might not make the 2 pm time coz I'm driving from SF/SJ area. I can't leave early coz I have to drop off my wife at the airport at 6 am that morning.
Anyone has a permit or spot available in your group on Oct. 1?

Guys, last year, first Sunday in October, there were 15 overnight permits and 23 day hike permits left unused and available. I don't think you will have any trouble getting walk-in permits.

Thanks Steve. I will try my luck this Saturday for walk ins. What are the chances of me getting one if I get to the ranger station at 1 pm? I know they release them at 2 pm but is there like a waiting list?

Then people are processed in the order of the number they drew.

Thanks Steve. Another question, is the day hike permit release only for individual person or the group leader could get a permit for the group of three?

Whoever is there asking for permits is the new "group leader", and can pick up as many permits as needed (if available).
