Hikers going the wrong way at this junction get reported every so often. Expect the usual flurry of posts demanding a forest of signs so this can never happen again.
Before my wife and I hiked Whitney the first time, I did a bit of reading about the trail. I was well aware of the correct direction at this junction. I also knew that a mistake was possible at the Lone Pine Lake junction. I really don't have a lot of sympathy for people who can't be bothered to learn something about the hike they are undertaking.
