Just watched a video on youtube published on Sept. 7. Not sure when the video was taken but everyone looked like they were freezing!
We went last September and I was in shorts on the summit. Can anyone tell me how the weather has been at the higher elevations over the past week or so. I know it can change in a matter of hours but just wanted to get an idea if it's been mild or really cold. Thanks.

The temperature at Cottonwood Lakes was 21 F yesterday morning (Sept 14). That's equivalent to the elevation of Outpost Camp. I saw a report that Trail Camp had 18 degrees.

The weather can be balmy, or freezing, or stormy. You definitely don't want to be there in a storm. You have to watch the weather forecasts closely before you go.

The Weather link to the left gives you the best forecasts.

September this year started out cooler than average (and a little breezy) due to a couple of troughs sliding through. Weather is variable and it could easily be warmer later in the month.... or colder.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be bringing one more layer than I had planned. Better to be safe than sorry. And yes, any sign of a storm and I'll absolutely take a pass.
