Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Day use on Wednesday, August 24

On Wednesday, August 24, I am driving from the Ontario airport to Tom's Place. I thought that I would like to stop at the Portal for a short visit as I no longer live in Southern California. I am afraid that I could have a traffic delay getting up the road, find no where to park, and have another traffic delay getting down the road. Is there any chance of just driving the road and parking for an hour?

Mid-day, 11 to 1 pm, the delay should be shortest, but it is impossible to predict when the pilot car will escort your direction through.

You certainly won't have trouble with parking -- the construction has kept the number of cars going up low.

Thanks, Steve. I don't want to spend potentially 30 or more minutes waiting for the pilot car each way. Next year.
