The article mentions a quake in 1988 - I recall feeling that while in a tent up near Graveyard Meadow close to VVR. Trees shaking, pine cones crashing down, and no sat phone to find out if this was the big one at the coast. Sure got our attention. Turns out this quake was noticeably stronger.
