I had originally planned for an overnight trip to Mt. Langley, but after several cancellations, I decided that I would just take on several day hikes solo. Looking at a list of possible hikes in the area, I decided on Mono Pass, with the possibility of a little class 2 to Mono Pass Peak.

Here are some hightlights. Clicking on any of the photos will bring you to my full trip report and gallery (~50 photos).

Possibly my favorite view in the Sierra. Red & White Mtn, Red Slate Mtn in the distance I believe:

Sand and scree.....how bad was it? One step forward, a half step back?

Great pictures.

I wish I would have done that peak last month instead of trying for Starr. Great pics, thanks.

Thanks!

The sand and scree section was quite short on the way up, so I didn't pay much attn to it. On the descent, I basically went straight from the peak to Summit Lake, so I was in the scree and sand for a longer distance. It was a little annoying with trail runners and no gaiters.

Lyndon, what software are you using that shows multiple gps routes on the same map? I like it.

Those are screenshots from Google Earth. I added a shaded topo map from caltopo as an overlay.

You can also export a KMZ file from Google Earth, then load it into Gmap4:

multiple gpx files on this page too, they just don't overlap:

edit: this link might work better:
Gmap4
