I know, I know, it's not the Sierra's. But magnificent fall colors in New England. Went to visit my daughter in Boston, and we drove up to New Hampshire to hike up Mt. Sunapee. Short hike, but brilliant day. Trail on the way to top of Sunapee Looking up Part way down one of the ski runs At the bottom, looking up one of the ski runs

Outdoor beauty is to bee appreciated no matter where its from (Wagga can even put some pictures of Oz up)
The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

(Wagga can even put some pictures of Oz up) I have heard stories of tribes sending pilgrims many megacubits to worship dead objects hanging on trees, and always thought it was urban legend, or perhaps an elaborate practical joke. Who woulda thunk? Nearest we can get is the corpse flower. It's not dead, just smells like it.

Having grown up in Ohio, and now living in California, I love the limitless outdoor opportunities I have here. The one thing I really miss, though, is fall colors. Thanks for sharing these beautiful shots!

Chris B, the Sierra eastside has some excellent fall colors. You just need to drive a little north: Between Bridgeport and Crowley Lake, there are some great areas mid-October. This on the June Lakes loop, taken last week by a friend of mine:

Very true, Steve! Not the barrage of color found in the dense forests of the Eastern US, but I do love the stunning backdrop of granite and blue sky with the vivid aspens.

Hi 63, You grew up in a beautiful place. We also drove around Lake Sunapee. Would love to have one of those "summer homes".

Steven Tyler and Arnold Schwarzenegger were rumored to own houses on the lake. I went to the movies one time in highschool. The theater was empty except for myself, 3 friends, and Steven Tyler and his entourage.
