Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion HELP: Whitney on 8/24-8/25?

Will anybody be headed up to Mount Whitney on Sunday 8/24 or 8/25 from LA and coming through the Santa Clarita Valley (a.k.a. anyone planning on going up the 14 to the 395) ???

I'm doing a yoyo on the HST and I'm looking to drop a resupply box in the bear-lockers at Whitney Portal. I live in Santa Clarita and I'm wondering if I can arrange to meet someone who would be willing to deposit my goods in a bear locker at Whitney Portal for me to pick up on 8/28 or 8/29. I will date the box so you can just drop it, and possibly email/text me to indicate which locker my stuff is located.

If you are planning on traveling via the 14 it won't be out of the way at all and I'd be glad to kick you some milk money for the trouble.

Wow. A yo-yo without even an overnight in Lone Pine. That is some trip. Best to you. Well you won't get better off trail food and refreshment than at the Portal Store, Early AM to late PM.

I am taking my son camping that weekend. We are arriving at the Portal campground on Aug 29th in the early evening. We are leaving Santa Clarita around 2pm that afternoon. Depending upon traffic, I would be up there around 5 to 6. I'd probably have enough room to bring up your stuff. It might be later than you'd like or need your stuff... If that would help you out, let me know.

Have a fun filled HST Yo-Yo! Take lots of pics and may be you will find a x-country short cut to Guitar lake skipping the 99 switchbacks and MW summit! Then follow Steve's Crabtree - Whitney ck trail to Kern Canyon, up Colby pass trail, x-country to Pants pass (finally found it on the NG map), then to Bear paw and back to Crescent Meadows! Should be a very interesting trip! Waiting for your report here! God Speed!
