I've been checking out some more of the Halfmile PCT apps, and they have a nice KML file for Google Earth. One example they demonstrate is allowing family/friends to track where you are with InTouch/Spot GPS coordinates.
Now, of course, any map system can use the same data, but because so many PCTers use a lot of JMT and spur trails through the Sierra, there's this treasure trove of Halfmile data that allows anyone following to see where you're at and other relevant information.
Since I'm now getting an InTouch, I know my wife will be very interested in having a chance to see where I am and what I'm doing while gone on a hike:
