Hello all,

My name is Sean and I have hiked the JMT 3 times and would like to share a short memoir I wrote about my early season trek last summer. The link is below, happy trails!

Nice, Sean. Thanks!

"Cowboy Camping" That's a new term. Been doing that most of the time backpacking. Just never called it that.

Captivating prose. He's a professional writer, you can tell.

His writing brought me back to last Memorial weekend on the same section. I didn't see any footprints in the snow either, which creates a special feeling of solitude on a popular trail like that. His writing brought it right back. Red's cafe and the campground were closed, but I also cursed the locked up hot springs and camped by the creek, just as Sean did. Of all the days to pick on the JMT, that one was fresh in my mind.

Thanks for the flash back, Sean. Keep writing.

Thanks guys, I tried to capture what backpacking's about for a lot of people including me. Awesome coincidence SierraNevada! I ended up taking a little bird-bath in the creek. And yeah the "cowboy camping" phrase I picked up on my first JMT hike by PCTers, funny phrase but I guess it's somewhat common.

Thanks again for the read and thumbs up guys, trail on..
