Alfonso,
Nice pictures dude. Love the one in the Narrows, one of my favorite hikes.
FYI, if you ever come back, the bear canister is not required for the North Fork. Yes, you went up the "wrong" route from LBSL. I can tell by that big giant boulder and the waterfall. People go there to ice climb during the winter/spring. You went too high. "Itz death ledge"...funny, but I agree; straight up is much easier, safer, and more fun.
$3 for a shower? It's always been $5 as far as I remember. I guess Doug dropped the price.
Good job!

Nice report, Alfonso! Congratulations in finding your way up the MR the first time. You did well. I too like the Narrows pictures. It's really cool that you took one trip, climbed Mt Whitney, drove through Death Valley, and then hiked Angels Landing and up the Narrows in Zion. Nice trip! I need to do the Narrows hike again. A video through the entire hike would be fantastic. For others benefit, here are two links to help find the easiest route from Lower Boy Scout Lake to Upper: First two pics here: MR, route from LBSL --> UBSLAnd pictures here, starting with #23: Whitney Mountaineers Route

Great pictures Alfonso with nice presentation. I have video of two trips, 18 miles down the Narrows with an overnight both times about mile 9. Only thing they are on old mini tape. This was several years ago before the small digital camcorders. I understand permits for overnight trips have gotten really hard to get.

Sphazo, nobody seems to be posting this winter. Not good! All I can do is look at the webcam picture, and zoom in (click on it), and look. The road looks dry or at least nearly dry. Some snow in the North Fork, but appears pretty light. From the looks, I'd venture that the willows aren't covered enough to support hikers. If you go and find otherwise, you'd be pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, the Ebersbacher Ledges are probably clear, due to the low amount of snow. When do you plan on going?

Hi guys, I am posting this question in a few different places...so please forgive me, but I figure many of you may have been on Mt. Shasta?
I am planning a California trip for this June. We are going to attempt to climb Shasta via Avalanche Gulch and was hoping for any advice, beta, or trip reports. There's not an awesome website for Shasta like there is for Whitney. But, If you guys are anything like me...than you know I'm hungry for beta and psyched to climb!

We are looking at the possibility of going up next weekend (an alpine start on Saturday morning). I have not been able to find any information regarding conditions on the portal road, the willows, ledges, chute or general snow conditions. I look forward to hearing your TR when you come back!!

From the webcam:
The Portal Road looks completely dry -- no snow for a thousand feet above it. So unless too much rockfall has made a mess, you will probably be able to park at the Portal.
The willows in the North Fork: Looks like some snow in the bottom of the canyon. But up by the Ebersbacher Ledges appears dry. I think you will find significant snow from Lower Boy Scout Lake and above.
Looking forward to any info you can report back. Have a good trip!!!
