Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion East Arete of Mt. Carl Heller?

I first saw this route in my old Sierra Classics guide book, & was immediately drawn to it! While climbing Mt. Russell, many years back, in the back of my mind, besides my climb at hand, I was looking at that East Arete of Mt. Carl Heller, & knew one day I would return!
I can't find it on any maps, it looks like it's near Mt. Hale, can anyone give me a good map location? And, any inputs on the climb itself? Thanks, Elwood

Carl Heller was one of the founding members of CLMRG. Carl was a sometimes stern fellow, but very competent in the mountains. He tossed me off a helicopter once...while it was still on the ground, at Bishop airport. LOL.

20 years ago, I was on a five-peak day hike that included Mt. Carl Heller. I did a class-four variation on the west face and it was a classic. I'm not sure which way I went. I just scrambled up whatever looked fun and was never disappointed.
