My wife and I are trying to plan our next awsome adventure. Has any body been to the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia? It looks to be the equivalent of Alaska but is Russia (Asia). I've looked online and there are a few guide companies from Europe that provide services to the area, but it is still very remote and tourism has not caught on yet (one cool reason to go).
We are interested in a trekking/backpacking trip. Companies provides guides, but you are responsible for carrying most of your stuff and gear (unless you hire porters for extra). It would be a true backpacking trip

...in the middle of no where!
Any info. would help.
thanks
