During Lent, many of the faithful commit to fasting or giving up certain types of luxury as a form of penitence.
I just heard from a friend that for Lent he and his friends are giving up Social Networks for 40 days.
If the traffic is quiet on the Whitney Zone for the next 40-days, Lent just may be the reason.
These days, giving up Social Networks is quite a sacrifice, don't you think!

How about giving up TV? Might be easier.
Had an interesting moment at my house some days back: Four people sitting around the living room, but the TV was off. And each of the four had a laptop running, browsing social networks, or WhitneyZone, playing games ...somewhere on the www.
Times have definitely changed.

Great article on the beer fast. I'm not too sure I could do this, I think I'd be dizzy all the time.
Steve C.'s right, giving up TV is probably easier than giving up social networks.
I'm sure glad I found the WZ, it's so fun to communicate with everyone on the WZ. I need to make another donation to the WZ soon. I get more entertainment on the WZ Message Board than I get from a $12 ticket for the movie theater.

Hello Mr. Treasurer,
You made me laugh with your figure of $3,650. You are definitely the man for the job of collecting the donations for the Whitney Zone. Mike, I promise you if I win a lottery or hit it big in Las Vegas I will donate the $3,650 and maybe double it.
Since I only get to the show about six times a year I made my donation accordingly.
It only took me two months to make my donation. Hopefully other Whitney Zoners don't take as long as I did.
Thank you to you and all the Whitney Zone Board members who make this website possible for all of us who love Mt. Whitney, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and all the outdoors throughout the USA and the World.
