How are the routes up Wotan's Throne? There's a class 4 chimney up the south side and just class 3 scrambling on the North? Can anyone give some more details? I'll be heading up the easier class 3 side I'm sure since I intend to bring some camera gear up there.

Sounds like we're in for some great pictures of the switchbacks. ...is that your plan?

Yeah. Should have a perfect view of them from up there. And probably a nice view of the whole crest. I'm going to shoot 360 degree panos while I'm up there.

I've climbed Wotan's Throne a fair amount. The south face is a great climb; the northwest arete is more like steep class 2 than 3. Here's a picture of the south face:

23 Our route

That day we went up the south face and down the northwest arete. The rest of the pictures are here, but I didn't take many of the descent: 10 October 2009 Wotan's Throne

For another trip up the northwest arete, see this album: 28 August 2010 Wotan's Throne
