Wifey-pooh and I see an MD (1980-University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque) in Oakhurst, CA who is board certified in holistic medicine (2003). Our doctor is an avid hiker and mountain climber. In his waiting room, there is a picture of him and two other climbers on Aconcagua's Polish Glacier Traverse route. Hey, that is why we like this doctor! Down to earth organically speaking.
While speaking with other patients who frequent the Mammoth area, the topic of Standard Process Cataplex E2 came up as a means to alleviate altitude sickness. They "swear" by it. Of course, that sparked my curiosity.
I have Googled SP Cataplex E2 and found this:
"...for people with angina, heart disease, cramps, high blood pressure, restless leg syndrome and high blood fats. It is made from tillandsia, high-selenium yeast, adrenal, spleen and orchic extracts (bovine testicles). Today scientists are discovering that selenium deficiencies can turn infection deadly, including blood vessel problems and even flu. And the only selenium that works is natural selenium from yeast. Besides this immune-bolstering effect, Cataplex E2 actually reduces the heart's need for oxygen, making the heart and muscles work more efficiently - thus making it specific to people with angina. Anyone with this condition or most heart disease should use this product at a dose of 3 to 9 daily. It has been in successful use since 1949."
Any thoughts?
