Oh, the issue isn't the cost of the trip itself. I spent very little money on my whitney adventure. I'm pretty sure that I came in at less than $100 (not including the new one man tent at $90 and the SPOT II that my Mother insisted on buying since I was going alone (I tried to explain to Mom that I'm 47 freakin years old, she can stop worrying about me now...LOL))
A trip now would simply be the cost of food and gas...and I have to eat whether I am at home or backpacking.
My wife is an accountant, she wants that income to keep on flowing in and I'm a sales dude, so if I'm not selling, I'm not making money.
I've been doing a fair bit of work out in your neighborhood in Menifee off of Ethanac road.
And Encino....I spend more time there than in Tarzana. I pretty much live at Encino Little League during the spring and fall.
BTW: glad you got back from your Baldy trip in one piece...even if a little bit beat up.
