Did you take the mountaineer's route via the chute or are the switchbacks open yet?
The Mountaineers’ Route is accessed from the north fork of Lone Pine Creek. It is nowhere near the main trail, the switchbacks, or the relatively easy “chute” (actually just a slope) to the right of the switchbacks.
