I hiked down that trail in 2016, and it was pretty easy to follow most places, especially between the wet meadow (western end) and almost to the lower Crabtree Lk. You won't find it in the wet meadow, though. Once it heads west from the wet area, it is a good trail. I couldn't find it at the west end of the Lower lake, but you can make your way in the general direction and you are sure to hit it again. It disappears again on bare granite on the hump before the middle lake.

The middle lake has an outstanding sandy beach.
