Hiked to Trail Camp Thursday and summit Friday, Aug. 10-11.

Ate about 4,000 calories, mostly Yumbutter and Clif Bars. Took a lot more, including jerky, but didn't want it. Lost about 3 pounds. Took 6 Saltstick capsules, could've used a few more.

Lots of low water throughout; waterproof shoes are necessary if you want to keep feet dry or avoid a second pair of shoes. Low tops are fine.

I wanted to summit for sunrise, and left Trail Camp at 2:30 am and got to summit at 5:35, sunrise at 6. Underestimated how cold it was going to be up there. Thin layers and fingerless gloves aren't enough. Drank 2 liters up and back (low night temps and light layers kept perspiration away); I stowed a liter bottle at Trail Crest but didn't need it.

Lots of space at Trail Camp when I was there. Also mosquitoes in the evening.
