Didn't know there was going to be a test on all this.
So by the letter of the rules, it looks like I'd be okay with just a "Visiting Mt Whitney" permit.
But ironically when I did my first summit of Whitney, the only time I got asked for my permit was just when I was reaching the end of the trail at the Whitney Portal.
If that happens this time, I'd probably have to show the ranger pictures of me on the MR to prove I didn't come down the Whitney trail.
