Thanks for that reminder, WF. With that in mind, maybe Jow should try for the lottery, and all that, to try for the exact permit he needs.
I am really hopeful they will figure out that they can give out the walk-in permits, but the walk-ins will NOT be given parking permits. (The reservation-holders will be given one parking permit per group). So walk-in, get a permit, arrange for a shuttle ride, and the hike is on!
This is hypothetical, but I trust they will come up with that idea.
If Jow is unsuccessful getting a reservation, then the parking issue might come into play.
