I am excited that a friend from here has purchased a DVD for me, and is sending it my way! I hope to be watching it soon!
As for hiking the entire JMT, you could do it the way I have: in pieces. It took me six separate hikes, but I have hiked every mile of the trail over the years. (...well, I missed a mile between Glenn Pass and Bullfrog Lake when I took a shortcut trail down to Charlotte lake
