I had been told to arrive at the Interagency center south of Lone Pine at 11 am to receive a number , then have lots drawn, then get a permit as available. This was not the case.
Luckily, we arrived 2 hrs early, were given number 17 while 15 was being serviced, and got the last 2 of 3 remaining day-of permits for an overnight climb of Whitney. The ranger said the rules were changed "last week, maybe".
Had a storm-delayed ascent to Trail Camp on 8/8, summitted on 8/9, descended to great burgers by Doug at the Store.
