The story about the pad, coat and lid blowing away reminds me of several weeks ago when I was snow camping. I had my closed-cell foam pad rolled up and ready to pack when a gust of wind sent it rolling away -- on the flat! I went charging after it in foot-deep snow. Fortunately the wind died down and it only went 40 yards before I got to it. Had the wind been steady, I would have had to wave farewell to it.
Fortunately that occurred on the morning we went home. If it had been before that and the wind had been much stronger, it could have turned into an emergency.
