Fellow hikers and climbers of the Sierras. I've returned to share another video I've been working on for the past 4 months with my buddy Colin. Feel free to share. This is a must see. I guarantee you'll see stuff you've never seen before!
Nicely done. A lot of great compositions there. I really enjoyed the perspective of rising above cliff sides. Did you use a steep angle rail system for that?
Looks like this one has gone viral. I can't find a view-counter on Vimeo, though.
Sheldon Neill has a website, Project Yosemite. It has a very nice slide show of their Yosemite picture sites. On that page, Sheldon wrote, "30 hours later and Yosemite HD has over 100,000 views."
Yosemite is magical. You've captured--it's magic. Amazing video. New to this site. Look forward to the inspiration through video and words. Thanks! Lisa
Sheldon, thanks for the post and the new version. The quality is so good, it seems like I could reach out and touch the landscape.
For anyone wondering, the "Quality" setting is the round gear icon in the lower right corner of the video window. (It doesn't show up until you start the video.) Click it, and then select "Original".
I really enjoy watching the video. I get a kick out of seeing odd items like a tiny speck on the sensor in one scene, or the shot on Half Dome where the tripod gets pulled. I assume that tripod is what was used to take that shot from Half Dome with the Central Valley lights glowing in the background:
Watching the new version on a 27" monitor, I am wondering... any idea what the star or planet is at 3:15 - 3:20 that appears above the horizon between the horizon and the moon, but is rising at about 1/4 the rate of the moon and stars?
Here is the Youtube video, where people can view the high-quality resolution. Full screen is definitely the best.
It's started me to plan my trips for this summer, and it's going to include some time to try doing some nighttime time-lapse. It may not be likely I can get anywhere near this quality, but I can try! That's the fun part, going out and doing! trying!
