A day trip from the "road closed" signage. Very peaceful.

That is a pretty rustic looking snow shoe. Did it work? Did it last???

Had my kids help me figure out the download for the pics!!. Snow shoes lasted about half an hour before they needed reinforcing. When I started breaking thru past the the "Log crossing" I used the willow from that area. It was just for fun to practice what I had learned in a Scout Skier program the Marine Corps put me thru years ago in Bridgeport.
BTW, I didn't make it more than a 1/4 mile past the "road closed" sign before I parked it. Driving on the ice at 2 in the morning was a little much so I just hiked the road. takes about 1 1/2 hours to reach the TH at a good pace. A ranger drove up in the afternoon no problem. Mountain was very quiet.
