sorry all.. this is not an alcohol or drinking question  Does anyone know what last call at the Portal for burgers is these days? We'll be heading up that way next week and I'd like to stop on Monday (06/21) for dinner at the Portal... but need to know when DougSr is closing the grill so I can plan to leave San Diego in time! Thanks!

We were there 06-11-10 and 06-12-10 and the grill closed at 7:30 p.m.
The WPSMB shows 8a-8p for the month of June, but the Store wasn't that busy so Doug Sr. closed it early.
Doug Sr. can really make a mean order of fries. They were delicious! Not to mention that Moose Burger on Friday night! WOO HOO!
Oh, you might want to bring a jacket.

@ti2d... I always have a jacket with me at the Portal. I love DougSrs fries... but have yet to be able to finish off an entire burger, let alone even attempting a Mooseburger. I'll leave that to those better then I...

The Store has a gardenburger. Note that the regular burger, the hot dog & the gardenburger all look the same. After half a Mooseburger, I have about the same concentration of oil in my veins as the Gulf. But tasty!

How's their vegetarian menu? That would be in the beer cooler - grains are veggies, right? And it's limited . . . And corn squeezins' are made from corn (a vegetable in my book and NOT a grain). But wait, then there is the argument of "grain alcohol." Oh, whatever!  And taters are veggies...the defense rests...

When I was in college, I always thought the 4 basic food groups consisted of pizza, beer, burgers and bourbon. There was often a 5th group (Ramen Noodles) when things were tight.

Now if the WPS sold pizzas LOOK OUT! Pizza is a very well rounded meal... so long as their is some sort of meat product on it... bread, veggie, dairy, meat... sounds healthy and balanced to me!
