What are the changes of the drone taking a direct hit?
Big Sky Small Drone Theory. Though a 48 incher would be a problem. Headphones & full volume...
And there is this. UAV would not like. It happened in San Diego in 2012. Fireworks shows are run by computers. You can design the entire show, then the program "lights the matches" for you. In this video, an error was made in the show parameters. The pace of the show is governed by a clock variable, entered in milliseconds (where 1000 = 1 second). Note to programmers & coders among us - do a sanity check on the clock variable - a value of zero means that everything happens at once. Sigh. Do be careful of the volume if using headphones.

Not a lot of news from Ueli lately - so back to the roots
Doesn't show where he topped out, so I am guessing this is not exactly the direttissima. Uneblievable nonetheless. Wonder if it was the previous team ascent that cut the steps.
So the WORST part about that 2012 San Diego show (other then the fact that those of us who spent all day down there waiting for it and ended up with a one second show...) is that there are 5 barges set through a horseshoe shaped area of San Diego Bay set to have a fabulously synchronized display. San Diego Bay is semi sheltered by the peninsula of Pt. Loma, which provided a terrific obstacle to bounce sound against.... so when the "oops" happened to all 5 barges... it was not quiet by any means. My ears rang for days.
Someone worked hard and traveled far and wide to get all those clips.
somebody has got to do the grunt work... twist my arm. I'd rather be shooting a sunrise timelapse in Owens Valley than patch a cluster of Windows Servers at 5am while stuck in Wisconsin... I really need a vacation (asked for it in December, still have not been given a yes or no...)
