The announcement below has come from the Inyo County Sheriff. The closure means the closest
hospital emergency room from Lone Pine is an hour north in Bishop, or an hour south in Ridgecrest.

After being informed that the emergency room at Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine has been closed until further notice, the Sheriff's Office wants to provide public awareness of our current emergency medical services in southern Inyo County including the communities of Independence, Lone Pine, Olancha, Keeler, Darwin and Pearsonville.

As of today, December 3, 2015, southern Inyo County has the following emergency medical services available:

 • Northern Inyo Hospital, located at 150 Pioneer Lane in Bishop

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that you share this information with your neighbors, local family and friends.

So sad.....I had been following this for a while and was hoping that some sort of financial support could be found.

Thanks for posting, Steve.

Paul, maybe you can post the above text over to Doug's board. Here's something you can copy and paste:
Closure of Emergency Room Southern Inyo Hospital, December 3, 2015

More from my Inyo N.F. contacts:

Thanks, We are all concerned regarding the delay in medical care.

Also longer transport times for ambulance may translate to delayed response, if the ambulance is already deployed on a run.

Remind people to drive safe. Many traffic accidents can be prevented.

Having all our responders tied up at an accident scene translates to no service or delayed service for other medical needs.

And the reverse, if the ambulance is busy transporting a local medical emergency to Ridgecrest, there may be delayed response for your accident.

Thanks for helping get the word out.
