Story in Plane Talking, Its amazing story is told in gripping detail by Qantas QF32 captain Richard de Crespigny here. Nobody has ever found any redeeming quality whatsoever in that town since.

Confirmed solve, but Wagga is referring to a big holiday event at this location, rather than the world famous location. It appears that Wagga enjoys world class wine.
