Bill, pretty sure it is dry all the way. You can probably climb on snow in the main gully below the Notch if you want, but it should be easily avoidable.

I was up there yesterday 6/26.. the only ice was on the switchbacks and then another place I believe is referred to as "the snow field." On the switchbacks, the ice melted by the afternoon (assume this cycle will continue for some more days) and the snow field had openings cut through it so your feet stay dry as long as you don't fall in a slush-hole. You can also walk around this area.

I wore trail runners and they stayed dry, but there are plenty of places to get wet feet if you are not careful.

Jon, it sounds like you took the Main Trail.

The "MR conditions" refers to the Mountaineers Route, which is the non-trail route up the North Fork of Lone Pine Creek. That route splits off at the first main stream crossing, about a half hour from the trail head.

How sore were your feet with the trail runners? What brand, style??

Woops sorry about that smile. My feet felt great. I had a brand new pair of New Balance 461 with a $4.50 pair of walmart thin gel insoles under the included ones. I also wore sock liners inside mid-weight hiking socks which likely helped. The only thing killing me after this hike is my calfs.
