Actually I forgot that I got word from the planners that the up coming SCA crews that will be working the PCT for the next 6 months have at least one 10 day hitch doing mostly tread work on the section of PCT from Long Valley Loop Road down into Rockhouse Basin. You can go for a single day or all of it.

Just keep your eye on the schedule as they should be posting the SCA crews within the next week or so.

I remember hiking that stretch in 05 (how can it be that long???) I vaguely remember thinking that was an old fire road.

Maybe you did walk down the road? A quarter mile or so South from the PCT is an old road that goes into Rockhouse Basin. That was before the days of the wilderness act.

That section of trail is generally in good shape. We removed another 150 trees from the trail and repaired rock retention walls. Once some needed tread work and mild brushing gets done the trail should be good for years. Minus the annual tree removal of course.

No, but I know the road you are talking about, I've walked it as well. Great to know that section is in such great shape. It was obviously well designed, and that helps a lot.

Sounds Awsome I'll keep the first week of October open I still have to do my trail condition report on the PCTA website from Canebrake Rd to Clover Mdw,it looks like work on that section was done recently it was in excellent condition,but did count a total of 11 fallen trees.I did meet the SCA crew about a month ago when I was bagging Mt.Jenkins working on the trail between Morris Pk and Jenkins.I'll look at the info you guys posted up,thanks hope to see you all soon on the trail.P.S I did work on alot of section G back in the late 80s with the BLM hotshots and trail crew.

Rockhouse Basin project has been posted. June 20th - 27th.

I'd like to try and get out to this one but I would have to leave early because I am supposed to start my summer hike on the 27th.
